Well the main bulk of what I wanted to say has been done in the header, so now I'm going to go into it in a bit more detail.
Well, me and Tort - for the record - never really fell out. I know back at home someone went around(I know who you are) telling all our friends that we weren't talking. I had to call Tort on his expensive T-Mobile thing to find out what was going on - he was as curious as me! XD
So in that sense my quitting originally worked - I preserved my friendship with him, at the expense of a great little forum that I'd started in secret and had flourished with nurturing.
I believe my departure was a catalyst for others to go from what I've been told, but I'm so very happy that this place is still alive and going stronger than ever. But I'm sorry to everyone that I even made you all go through so much upheaval - and might I say, this new skin is pretty sweet!
Let me expand now upon what I said in the header about my 'position' on the forum. You'll notice I've renamed myself as an Espada - I'm an outcast from Soul Society and as such I have no power there XD I can still access the staff sections, and I can fuck you over - but I promise I won't be touching the admin powers unless I have to, as and when directed by the staff.
The reason I've got my old account back is because not only am I the creator of this board, but also because I liked the post count I'd acquired ^^ Rather than start a new account and have Tort boost the post count up, I'm continuing from where I left off. That and the account is inactive most of the time so it might as well be used... makes no sense does it? But having the old account back was also a condition of my return.
Sut I'm not staff, so don't poke me with your problems. I'll help the captains if they need me to, and I'll also offer them advice should they need it. As I said before, I'm just a normal member with shiny bits.
Now to the proposal.
In the last few months I've been looking around, surfing the web and exploring with a few toys. One of which is Zetaboards.
Guess where this is going.
Zetaboards is - like Proboards - a forum supplier. However now the bugs have finally been ironed out, Zeta is far superior to Proboards. For the staff: a much better warn system; an ACP you can actually use without needing a main account(permissions can be altered much more than here); moving, storing and searching for topics is much easier; you can set up Autotools to automatically leave a reply on a topic when you lock it; and best feature in my opinion - FULLY CUSTOM SKINS - that don't rely on the other skins. You've all seen Conflicts, it uses half the colours and images from the original skin! With Zeta, that's a thing of the past.
For Tort, instead of relying on Freewebs Zeta has its own proper portal that can be used!
Also, getting a domain name and assigning it is much easier than here too. That's something we should look into getting eventually...
For the normal members: much larger avatar and signature limits(to be specified by the staff and NOT Proboards) and profile fields(again, can be custom created by staff) allow for a more personal touch to your profile; a blog so you can have a proper IC diary for your character; a much cleaner look to your favourite forum with as many custom skins as you could desire(yeah, a proper Kenpachi skin? no problem!); a proper Report system for you to report wrong posts for staff to take action on; better YaBBC codes for you to use in your posts; and much much more - better ranking systems for example?
What I propose is this. I start off a new forum on Zeta and get to work, it might take me a while but eventually I'd have made two or three skins and have a forum ready for you all to use. All staff would keep their positions and be automatically put into the appropriate groups. New board does not equal new start, so all posts would be transferred over to the new board.
The reason I'm putting this here and not in the staff area is because this affects everyone. I'd like input and feedback from as many sources as possible - even if it's to say you agree with what her above you said.
Do you know what I've noticed since I've come back? This place has had a new skin and a slightly different layout but that's it. It's stagnated. Let's add some adrenaline into the place once more. I may denounce the role of staff but I'm going to throw myself head-first into rebuilding this place.
Oh, and congrats on 60+ registered members!
Edit: if anyone's interested, here's the test board.
