These are guidlines to be taken into consideration when roleplaying a Shinigami.
Fighting Ettiquette
Showing Respect.
Universal: Before the fight begins or in the early stages, introduce yourself. (Although 11th squad tend to only leave it till they think they are going to win)
When fighting someone of unknown level: Use your sealed sword untill they Release then match their Releases.
When Fighting someone who cannot Release: Unless they specifically request you to raise the bar for whatever reason (Training purposes, To show respect to their nobility or higher standing dispite their power level, want a quick but spectacular death) then you do not release.
Fighting against a Shikai: Release before the fight begins (something like this happens in the anime, when the head captain takes on Ukitake and Shunsui). Then as with the previous don't Release Bankai unless requested.
Fighting against a Bankai: same as Shikai but if you feel it is going nowhere or you are losing, then release Bankai. if your opponent releases Bankai you should match him.
Insulting:
To delieberatly withhold your name even when specifically asked for it. Thus implying they are not worthy to know your name. (iirc this is actually an old Samurai Tradition)
To Request your oppontent use their bankai when you haven't released your shikai. Implying you could defeat them at full power despite the fact that you are still useing your sealed power.
Refusing to Release your Soul Slayer on equal level to your opponent. Again Implying you could defeat their level of strength without even using an equal amount.
Refusing to Release your Soul Slayer despite being heavily injured. This is generally not very insulting and normally a mark of personal pride, as not releasing could mean defeat, though it does show that you believe your opponent to be at a weaker level than you and refuse to believe otherwise.
Soul Slayer Release
If you have Achived Bankai and you are fighting someone for the first time: Even thought -can- release your Soul Slayer wordlessly it is common curtiousy not to. Because it implies that you opponent is unworthy of knowing you soul slayers name. (this can sometimes apply to attacks too! I'll give an example below)
The user has mastered his attack Wangetsu Ryurin (Crescent Dragonscale). He can fire this off at various levels of power (naturally he can only use it at it's most powerful when using the full name) He can also fire it off by either saying his Soul Slayers Release Command Burn or name Mitzoko sometimes he'll say both (for again a more powerful attack that saying nothing or one word). However whether or not he's using the attack at full power, if he is using it against an opponent for the first time then he'll always use the full name Wangetsu Ryurin!
This one is generally more to stop your Soul Slayer feeling insulted (but that would depend on it's personality)
Please note that these are not deep insults. If someone appologises then it will be forgotten. The insult only gets more severe if someone continues to not follow Etiquette when someone has requested they do!
Also it should be noted for 11th Squad They tend to think all fights should be One on One, other squads aren't strict on this but often take it up for settling personal disputes.
