This thread is so that people can recommend anime and manga to other people that they are either currently watching/reading or have watched/read. I figured this would help out people such as myself who are always interested in watching/reading new stuff but don’t want to download/watch/read every anime and/or manga they come across. An anime I would defiantly recommend would be Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn! This anime revolves around the life of a young boy named Sawada Tsunayoshi, who finds out that he is the next in line to become the boss of the most powerful Mafia organization, the Vongola Family. As such, the Vongola's most powerful hitman, a gun-toting infant named Reborn, is sent to tutor "Tsuna" on how to become a respectable boss. I must admit that I was put off on the whole infant bit to start with but after watching it I became addicted to the story, and for people like Tort (who I know likes reading manga) this is originally a manga series. I would also highly recommend Trigun, Gungrave and Samurai Champloo

You'll find most anime Orginated as a Manga in some form or another!
Anyway I recommend Elemental Gelade, Lilly showed it to me ages back and I've seen a few episodes, i could do with watching it again, maybe I'll look it up on Veoh! (though I'd prefere to download it, I don't wanna risk the ISP wrath coz i'm sure the crackdown is beginning around now!)

Mainly the manga I read other than the obvious popular favourites, are girly... like Chibi Vampire, Fruits Basket, Magical x Miracle, and Kare Kano. Although if you are female, all three of those are excellent mangas to check out. However, if you are looking for a more mainstream manga, then Deathnote has been one of my favourites for ages, along with hellsing, and Alive - the final revolution are definitely ones to check out.

Anyway I recommend Elemental Gelade, If you could try to get the manga instead. I found that the manga of it has much better art than the anime. and the expressions from the characters in the manga are hilarious. If anyone wants a good laugh, try reading Maho Sensei Negima! It revolves around an English 10 year old who's studying to become a mage. As part of his training he's sent to teach English at an all girls japanese junior high school. The series has it's action parts but what really shines is the comedy. It's from the guy who made Love Hina, if that rings a bell for anyone. (Slightly perverted sense of humor.) If at all possible I recommend the manga over the anime because the art in the manga is better and the story of the anime isn't as good as the manga. If you can't get the manga, there's 2 anime versions. Negima! and Negima!? The one without the (?) is more comedy oriented and the one with the (?) is more action oriented.

From the past couple of responses it seems more people prefer reading manga to watching anime (or at least the anime versions of existing mangas), me however I’ve never really been tempted to read any manga... well not at the minute anyways, so I’m pretty much purely into animes. I’ve viewed the Mahou sensei negima anime before, can’t remember which one it was though, I think it could have been the more comedic one of the two. It was an enjoyable anime to watch though I will admit. Some more animes I would recommend are: Grenadier, Tenjou tenge, and Elfen Lied. It’s been a few years since I watched these but from what I remember they were very good indeed. Another obvious recommendation would be full metal alchemist. I love that anime, its one of my favorites

What do people think of Deathnote? It's one I'm considering viewing.

Hmmm Deathnote, another take on Shinigami, also why I'm looking at getting Alice on Deadlines (I don't think that has an Anime either!)
Manga recomendations, Bloodsuckers and Eden... I Picked them up deliberately because I hadn't heard of them and they didn't seem to be major popular ones with Anime versions... I was trying to find something a little more obscure and less mainstream!

I've just finished watching one piece up to the most current episode and i can say that at 367 episodes (and its still on going) its the longest anime i have watched to date. I would recommend one piece, its a brilliant anime, a good story, and has some amazing action scenes in it. Im considering watching Deathnote next as it just so happens so afterwards i shall post in here what i think of it

Damn, you beat me to it. Yeah One Peice is a really great anime/manga. Very diverse cast of characters interesting abilities, HUGE world. Kinda sounds like a game... XD
A manga I definatly recommend for people who like action/adventures with some very good humor bits in, is Elemental Gelade. The anime I'm not too fond of as the art style and quality from the manga to the anime is VERY different. The manga's art is much MUCH superior to the anime. But yeah, check it out, it's a very nice manga, nice story, and VERY nice art.

I read Deathnote the manga before the anime was dubbed, definitely one of my favorites. I suggest you guys watch Code Geass. It has giant robots, psychic powers, and one of the greatest protagonists I've ever seen.

For those who like slow paced and more relaxed animes, Azumanga Daioh, an old one but still a very great one. Suzumiya Haruhi is another great one, and Lucky star is another godly one. (though for Lucky Star, an existing knowledge of Japanese culture and being an otaku are kinda prereqs for enjoying it fully.

An anime I would recommend to most people who like Bleach is D.Grey-Man. It’s an anime that has slight similarities to Bleach, they have weapons called innocence which take on different forms (much like the Zanpakutos in Bleach) and fight akuma which are born in a similar way to the hollows in bleach. The only problem I found with D.Grey-Man was that it has some slow moments in it, such as the start and somewhere around episode 59, but otherwise the action and the story (once it gets going) is great.
