"I know, Ai-chan, I'm sorry," Takara said softly. She said nothing else as they entered the medical building.
Takara usually hated the infirmary. It was normally too full of pain and odd, powerful smells that turned her stomach. It often made her afraid when visiting, and she felt that fear coil inside her now, but fought it down. It seemed to be quite empty this afternoon, quiet, and the only odours in the air were of cleaning solutions and medicine. Plus, Ai-chan was with her, which helped to still her fears.
Fuchida was writing when they approached his bedside, and put down the paper and quill eagerly to give them a wide, friendly smile. He was a small man, only five and a half feet tall, with reddish hair and a smooth, pointed face.
"Nakamura-taicho!" he exclaimed. "Takara-fukutaicho! To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"We heard about your-" she brought herself short of saying anything offensive, "accident."
His face crinkled, quite obviously at a loss. "My accident?"
"The reason you're here," she said.
"Oh!" and out came his smile again, this time nervous and optimistic. "I'll get it eventually. It was a binding spell that did it... I've been trying hard to remember incantations lately and I sort of mixed half of an offensive chant in too."

"That is unfortunate, but not unheard of. Don't worry, I think I'll take you off destructive spells for a while and concentrate on memorizing the binding incantations." Nakamura paused briefly while glancing at what Fuchida was writing.
"Don't let it discourage you though. You have a lot of power and a lot of potential. Just look at how much damage you were able to do! All we need to do is help you focus that power, so that is is your target that feels the brunt of the blow and not yourself." Nakamura finished with one of those heart warming and reassuring smiles of hers before turning to Takara.
"How much time do we have before the 12th Squad ceremony begins?" She asked her Lieutenant.

Fuchida returned Nakamura's reassuring smile with a sheepish one of his own.
"If you think that's best, taicho. I'm sorry to have let you down again."
Takara wanted to reassure him too, but wasn't quite sure what to say. Kido had always been her passion, her best subject simply because of that, and Fuchida's constant mishaps and backfires completely mystified her. She'd even tried teaching him herself, one day, taking him through an offensive kido step by step, and he'd still managed to fluff it as soon as he tried it independently.
"How much time do we have before the 12th Squad ceremony begins?" Ai-chan asked her.
Takara did a brief bit of mental calculation. She'd received a detailed plan of the events list yesterday and knew what the ceremony entailed, from seating plans, to specific captain demands, to after-party arrangements.
"Jyuunibantaicho wants all captains to get together before the main ceremony," she said. "An icebreaker between captains, I think. If you don't want to miss that I'd say we have to leave in the next five, maybe ten minutes."

at this remark Nakamura turned back to her recovering Squad member.
"You haven't let me down. Don't be so hard on yourself."
Nakamura glanced back at her Lieutenant then shrugged at Fuchida with a friendly reassuring smile.
"Yari Yari, well it can't be helped, I must leave. But don't you forget, you have the potential within you we just need to help you channel it right!"
she then began making her way toward the 12th Squad's Captain's "Icebreaker" assuming Takara would follow.

"Get better," she told Fuchida.
Takara fell in behind her captain, matching her pace as they left the infirmary.
"Ai-chan," she whispered. "Do you have any idea what research Jyuunibantaicho is celebrating the completion of? I asked one of the seated officers of twelfth squad but he said it was need-to-know information."

"No, but I'm sure we'll find out when we get there. However as I have to do some of this Captain mingling before everyone else arrives then there is something I want you to do. Organise the 20th seats I want to give them some training after the ceremony is over." she said as she made her way toward the 12 Squad hall.

OOC: yeah I'm tired so tiny post today, don't worry I'll control the 12th Squad captain, I'll use my own and try and make a profile for him. Coz I've been meaning to do that for AGES!

"At once, my captain," Takara dipped her head in a bow and about-turned.
They hadn't gone far from the fourth squad infirmary. If she remembered correctly they kept some of their Hell Butterflies in an adjoining building, for ease of rapid communication with the more skilled healers.
I'm sure they won't grudge me the use of a Butterfly, she thought.
She circled the infirmary building, instead of treading through the sick-bays she took the longer route around it and came, after a brisk walk, to the small, rectangular building that housed the local Hell Butterfly population.
It was pretty much empty, as expected, although she had assumed there would be one shinigami in particular there. Takahashi was practically a part of the furniture these days, the eleventh seat enjoyed tending to the Butterflies so much she spent all her free time here. There were jokes about her, and Takara felt a little guilty that she'd repeated some of them herself.
She wondered if she should find someone to ask permission, or just borrow a Butterfly.
Hell, what's the point of being a vice captain if you can't make executive decisions now and then? Anyway, it's for Ai-chan.
Moving swiftly, she selected one of the black-winged insects and whispered her instructions to it. It flew off, not to the twentieth seat officers in question, but to fifth squad's tenth seated officer. He would gather the lower seats and have everything arranged by the time this ridiculous "ceremony" was finished.
Her duty done, Takara wrote a quick note to explain the absence of the Butterfly, then went on her way to twelfth squad territory. Even if she ran she doubt she'd catch up with Ai-chan, so she took the walk slowly.
The icebreaker shouldn't last long. Ai-chan will show her face and make nice, and I'll do the same with the vice captains. Then we just have to muddle through the speeches and we can be on our way.

Nakamura arrived at the 12th Squads meeting Hall. where the ceremony was being held. She was greeted by an unseated officier who showed her to a separate smaller room where the Captains were meeting before the main event. (The Lieutenants had a similar room prepared for them.)
When Nakamura entered the eccentric Arai Hiraku, Captain of Squad 12 was standing by the wall on the other side of the room to the door. 4th Squad Captain and 9th Squad Captain were already there casually standing around the small room talking with Arai. As Nakamura entered they the conversation stopped as they looked to see who'd just arrived. She politely walked up to Arai and bowed slightly.
"Konichiwa Hiraku-san, I'm looking forward to the celebrations. What invention is it that we are celebriating today?"
"Ahhh, glad you could make it Hanako-san. But of course the invention will be unveiled in due time." Arai responded in his energetic way.
Nakamura greeted the other Captain's in a similar manner, engaging in polite conversation. She mentioned to the 4th squad Captain, to whom she was quite close, about seeing Fuchida and explained the amusing story of how he wound up in her care, as well as some others. But the time came for the Captain's to enter the main hall and for the celebration to begin so so the 13 made their way out.
----- OOC
I'll leave it at that for now, I was going to describe the all and everything but I need to get to bed. you can make a post similar to this about how the Lieutenant version went. just end it the same way I did before she enters the hall and I'll do the explaining of the rest in my next post.
Oh yeah, Arai's profile isn't done, so no real description on him yet, but at least I got him a name ^.^ I wanted to post though coz i didn't want this RP to fall behind.

The meeting hall was small and sparsely decorated. Through the doors at the far end of the room was the main hall, and the icebreaker between captains would be held in yet another hall on the other side of that. When the two groups entered they would do so from opposite sides, vice-captains first so they could be kneeling when the captains came in. Takara entered, brushing past the unseated twelfth squadder without a word, and took a look around. It was all pretty much as she had imagined it. She saw three main groups of vice-captains standing around, divided by temperament and specialisation. She wasn't friendly with many of them. While she was deciding who she should go talk to, a door at the far end of the hall opened and out stepped a low-ranked twelfth squad woman. She began ushering everyone through to the main hall, stirring up a low murmur of conversation between the twelve vice-captains. Not wanting to be left out, Takara joined the back of the group and allowed herself to be guided through to the main venue. She had to admit to a slight curiosity about the invention on display, but told herself that if it wasn't for Ai-chan, she wouldn't have been seen dead here. --- OOC: can i have Peishin appear in a cameo? talk about it on msn.

Nakamura walked out into the main Hall. It had been set up specifically for this event with a stage at the front of the hall and rows of seats with Squad Logo's on them for the guests to sit organised into their Squads. The Lieutenants were already out Standing by their seats awaiting their Captains. Nakamura made her way to the 5th Squad section and stood next to Takara. Arai made his way onto the Stage standing infront of something covered by a cloth. "I'm glad to see so many of you come today. We here at 12th Squad are very proud of this, my new invention. We had hoped to unveil it when we had refined it so it required less power to activate. But alas deadlines must be met and such, but it is still a fine product though it won't have regular use it could be helpful in emergency situations." Arai went on to explain the extensive amount of research that went into creating it even though it couldn't be fully tested he is sure it is perfectly safe. "Though at some point I would like your assistance in doing a test run. As to activate it currently requires the power of 12 Captains. However the effects are worth it. It creates a temporary dimension, which lasts a mere second or two, but inside many centuries will have passed. This means in a situation of dire need the Captain's can gather and one can take inside a student and train them to Captain level in the blink of an eye!" There was a mixed reaction from the audience. Nakamura looked surprised but could see the benifits so quickly regained her usual expression. After the unveiling of the new device a dinner was thrown and it was a rare chance for all the Captain's to mingle with each other and their squads. ------------------------------------ ooc: No, he's not even born yet as for if you wanna interact with anyone during the dinner or whatever it's up to you, but if not we can move on back to 5th Squad and do the training with the 20th seats. (I'm gunna assume all squads have the same number of 20th seats... the anime/manga mentions 9th has 15, so I'm gunna go with that number)

Takara felt her eyes widen as the twelfth squad captain explained his invention.
What a breakthrough! Amazing! Takara turned to Nakamura and saw, for a brief instant before she covered it, the surprise in her eyes. Normally training to become a captain took centuries.
Twelfth squad attendants brought out dinner, but the shock of the new device was wearing off and Takara ate mechanically. The captains and vice captains around her were talking, chatting about inconsequential things. She just wanted to get out of the room and be somewhere else.
--- OOC:
short post. i wasn't sure what to say about the invention, because its uses are obvious and quite limited. unless you wanna interact with some captains, let's move on to the training of the 20th seats.

Nakamura had chatted with most of the Captains present and eaten what she needed. She looked at the time being dislayed on a large clock (which looked like it was embedded in a living creature, crazy 12 Squad gadgets) mounted on the Hall wall. She saw that it was nearly time to meet with the 20th Seats for training so she Gestured to Takara to follow her as she made her way toward the exit.
------------------------------------- OCC: Well this is mostly about establishing Nakamura's and Takara's relationship. So we'll do some En route chatting then train those 20ths ^^
as for the device, I didn't know what tot do, so I just used the one from my storyline (won't say how or when it used might give too much away)

Spotting her captain's slender hand-signal, Takara stood and followed her out of the hall.
She ignored the glances of the other vice captains as she went - what did she care what they thought? - and nodded respectfully to those captains she passed on her way. A few minutes later she was outside, the cool air a wonderful contrast to the warm room they'd been eating in.
"Ai-chan," she called, falling in beside her captain. "I..."
Something was bothering her. It had been bothering her since she'd first heard the twelfth squad captain's speech. Only now did she realise the knotting sensation in her stomach was unease. How could she put the feeling into words?
"I am worried, Ai-chan. About jyuunibantaicho's invention."

Nakamura was walking back to 5th Squad's training grounds, though they had barely left 12th Squad's Assembly Hall when her Lieutenant decided to air her concerns to Nakamura.
"Ai-chan," she called, falling in beside her captain. "I..."
"I am worried, Ai-chan. About jyuunibantaicho's invention."
Nakamura looked at Takara with concern, but she spoke in a friendly reassuring tone.
"I shouldn't see there is any need to worry. It would only be used in an emergency and Arai-taicho keeps his dangerous inventions secure, I doubt it'd be able to fall into the wrong hands."
Her face took on that expression she takes when she is worried about a close friend and wants to help.
"What is it that has you worried so?"

"I wasn't worried about it falling into the wrong hands," Takara said, laughing. "But thank you for putting that thought in my head!"
Feeling more confident for Nakamura's reassurance and her brief stint of amusement, she felt more able to speak. She found her thoughts lining up.
"The invention itself doesn't concern me, it's the reason for having it in the first place. Is something going to happen? Suddenly we have a device that can be used to train replacement captains in an instant. It makes me fear that something horrible is coming, some great danger that I can't imagine."
She smiled sadly at her captain.
"I'm not worried for the others. I'm worried for you, Ai-chan. And I'm terrified for myself, I don't know what I'd do if something..." she bit her lip, swallowing the words: If something happened to you.
