Nakamura gave her Lieutenant a warming smile. She was touched that Nanako showed so much concern for her. She replied in her reassuring tone.
"It's more a device in prepairation of unforeseen events. After all if we lost a Captain then there would be no one to enter with the trainee to Train them to Captain level. I'd say it's another one of Arai-san's wild ideas that may have some use in an emergency situation. There is no need to fret, we are not planning for some impending danger. it's more Arai-taicho just wishing to prove that he could make the device more than anything else. It's the way he challenges himself, once he gets an idea he drives to see it to completion, if only to prove to himself that he can do it!"
She expression turned to one of gratitude.
"But it's good to know you care."

Feeling much relieved, Takara nodded and smiled at Nakamura wryly.
"Well, if I don' t look out for you, who will?"
Deciding she'd let her guard down enough in public, the younger Shinigami brought up her shields once more, assuming a stony expression and straightening her shoulders firmly. She was all business now - a fukutaicho marching beside her taicho.
"The twentieth-seats should be assembling soon, Nakamura-taicho. I had assumed we would be in the ceremony until its completion, so we'll be there a while before they will. I could ask them to come earlier if you like. Or," she paused, suddenly grinning. "We could spar a little before they arrive."

As the pair walked into the empty training Grounds of 5th Squad Takara asked Nakamura for a spar. Nakamura smiled at the idea and replied.
"Of course. If I don't practice even the basics my skills will rust and if you ever wish to progress past Fukutaicho level you need to train your skills other than Kido."
She walked to the centre of the grounds and took off her Haori with a brief flash of Reiatsu it floated up off her arms and settled on the rooftop.
"How about we work on your Zanjutsu techniques, though keep your reiatsu at a minimum. We don't want to make the arriving lower seats to feel uneasy."
She said to her lieutenant as she drew Hibiki and took her stance.
(the 20th seats can take as long as you like it's up to you. I'll let you post when they walk through the door, but leave their reactions and stuff up to me.)

"I'll do my best, Ai-chan."
Takara bowed to her captain and, as she straightened, drew her zanpakuto. She held it in a two-handed grip, tilted off-centre to her left with the tip pointed forward.
The spirit inside sang of victory and her insides stirred in empathy. She viciously suppressed that feeling, reminding her zanpakuto that this was only a practise session, not a serious battle.
She aimed a lunge at Nakamura's left shoulder.

Nakamura easily deflected the strike. Moving her sword in an arc she forced her Lieutenant's Zanpakuto to the ground. She then swung along the line of the blade towards Takaras hands and arm.

The blonde Shinigami tilted her sword to catch Nakamura's blade on the hand guard. A shock of contact thrilled up her arm. Using the force of her captain's strike, Takara hopped back a step.
In mid-hop she swung her zanpakuto horizontally in one hand, left-to-right, at her opponent's shoulder-height.

Nakamura swung her blade out to her right as her fukutaicho hopped back from her blow. Then as Takara swung at Nakamura she quickly reacted and turned the blade of Hibiki to meet her Lieutenant's Zanpakuto. Again she pushed Takara away by swinging the locked blades. With her now free sword, which was pointed at the ground, she swung up towards Takara's right leg aiming to follow through up her body.

No sooner had her toes touched the ground than Nakamura was pressing the offence. She turned her blade and caught Hibiki with the blunt edge of her sword, deflecting the strike, and swung up at her captain's chin.

Nakamura leaned back to avoid the swing and retaliated by swinging down low for Takara's legs.
This wasn't full on training and was just the basics. The moves were easily blockable with the skills their opponent already possessed. But given that the 20th seats would be coming soon they couldn't train more intensively. It wouldn't look good if they arrived to see their Captain and Lieutenant carving chunks out of each other.

Seeing the blade swinging in low, Takara jumped up to avoid it. As she was in the air and had her sword up anyway, she reversed her strike and aimed a slice at the top of Nakamura's head.
We might not be serious here, but I can tell you've not gotten slack, Ai-chan.

Nakamura had foreseen this. Her Low swing actually made a perfect circle up to clash with Takara's downward swing and knock her out of the air. Nakamura then readied an attack dependent on how Takara landed.
Even at this basic level someone with Lieutenant-level Zanjutsu was still far from a match for Captain Level Zanjutsu!

She landed lightly on the pads of her feet, and paused.
Nakamura had very few holes in her defence, and those few she could see would be difficult to access using zanjutsu alone, especially whilst keeping her reiatsu low. For a moment she wondered if it was worth upping the stakes.
The decision was taken out of her hands, though, because of the arrival of the 20th seated officers. She sheathed her zanpakuto and breathed out, calming herself and the spirit of her sword.
"Ah, good, you're here," she said to them. "Line up for the captain's address."
They did so quickly and efficiently, fifteen of the lowest ranking officers in fifth squad standing in a line ready to hear their captain's commands. There were one or two straight faces, a few eyes bright with anticipation.
Takara nodded to them. "They're ready, Nakamura-taicho."

She saw Takara land on her feet.
"That's my Fukutaicho! Good girl" she thought to herself and a smile creeped across her face. She was about to go for a swing but she felt the 20th Seats arriving. She sheathed her sword whil Takara was still noticing them herself. She raised her hand in the air, which glowed slightly and her Haori glided down of the roof and slid onto her arms.
Takara got them lined up in 3 rows of 5 and Nakamura walked to the centre of the grounds and faced them.
"It is time to teach all of you a new skill so you can better train with your unseated subordinates." Nakamura stated calmly but loudly so all could hear. "In other squads it generally isn't learned till you reach a much higher seat. But we are the Kido Specialists so mastering this skill is essential to improve further training!"
She paused briefly looking at the reactions of her subordinates. They all looked eager to learn, some maybe a little too eager, but she was pleased by their enthusiasm so she continued.
"The Technique is called Hanki. It cancels out a Kido spell by firing the opposite Kido at it. It can also be used against other Spirtual Pressure based techniques such as ones used by Hollow, however this requires study and detailed knowledge on how their Reiatsu is being manipulated so that you can counter it so that is generally left to 12th Squad. However the most useful application for you is training. Once this technique is mastered you can have your subordinates fire spells at you full power without risk of injury as you'll be able to counter their Kido. Takara-fukutaicho and myself will show you the proper procedure for this."
She turned to her Lieutenant.
"Fukutaicho, any Hado you wish." She instructed.

Takara nodded to her captain, bowed, then straightened her arm aiming her open palm at Nakamura's chest. She spoke loudly, clearly and specifically enunciating every word of the spell.
"Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm." She paused for a moment, checking that Nakamura was ready, then went on. "The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle! Hado sixty three, Raikoho!"
A blast of destructive kido streaked towards Nakamura.

While Takara was about half way through the incantation Nakamura began moving her arms in a circular motion infront of her. The Seated officers gathered could feel Nakamura's Reiatsu raise to a similar level as the spell being cast.
As the lightening arced towards her she finished her movements and held out the flat of her hand. The Lightening barely touched it before vanishing completely and no Reiatsu could be felt from either of the high ranked officers.
Nakamura then turned back to the impressed faces of her subordinates and continued.
"It is important for safety purposes that the full incantation be used. So that you are fully aware of what spell is coming at you and have plenty of time to set up the counter. Also weaker skilled Kido users should be the ones firing at stronger, again for safety, to minimize the risk of being overpowered."
Nakamura went on to explain in detail how manipulate the Kido and how to work out what to change in that manipulation to counter specific spells. She then got them to practice countering Hado 4 with each other and over saw their training. Her and Takara giving them pointers.
((I'll leave it up to you how well they do at it and let you interact a bit with them before we move on))
